About

Hello!

My name is Makenzie–an aspiring travel journalist currently embarking on a new adventure. During my Fall 2025 semester, I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I hope to work towards a career in travel journalism as I finish out the last half of my college experience at Fordham University in NYC.

Here is a little bit about me to understand more about my traveling process and inspirations:

Parents always have different priorities in the ways of raising their children. I am very fortunate to have a mom and dad who valued traveling and experiencing different cultures. Growing up I have touched both coasts of my home country, stretched down to the Caribbean and Central America, and hopped across the pond to Europe.

My feet have grazed many terrains and my eyes and ears have witnessed many cultures. What I found most astonishing from my travels is the diverse natural world and the array of art created from human hands, minds, and hearts. Everything from architecture to waterfalls to books to jewels to local’s words of wisdom have inspired me to absorb as much of the world as I can.

I began this process on my own when I decided to move to New York from Georgia. I continued to do so when I moved to London for the summer of 2024. Now, I have gone forward by studying abroad in Florence–the beating heart of all things historic and artistic.

Traveled Destinations

Much like the place I will be residing in next semester, I love to paint a picture. I find it creates a clear emotional and heartfelt vision of what to expectant rather than a logistical one. This blog is mainly centered around rich descriptions rather than overwhelming or dry bulleted recommendations. Every word is crafted in an intentionally cohesive way to either inspire others to travel or make those who are unable to do so feel transported.

*While I have travelled all my life to multiple regions and countries, my blog will consist of travels from the year 2025 and on. This way I can share my experiences and thoughts as freshly and authentically as possible*
